TikTok Head: Users Do Not Understand What Rights They Grant to AI Agents
Shou Zi Chew at the DBS Asia Future Forward Conference warned about the risks of blind trust in automated assistants.
Users often grant AI agents broad permissions without realizing the consequences. This was stated by TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew during his speech at a conference in Singapore.
According to him, agents with access to banking data can make unplanned purchases. For example, instead of a single order, they may buy goods for an amount significantly exceeding expectations.
Shane Mac, founder of a software company and also a speaker at the conference, reported that his AI agent mistakenly posted a bank account report in the corporate Slack chat. Other users have encountered AI hallucinations and misinterpretation of instructions.
At TikTok, employees are already being trained to prevent leaks of confidential information through public AI chats. This concerns trade secrets and legally protected data.
