The Coolpad brand has announced an affordable smartphone with a screen format rare for the modern market. The device is set to debut in China in October, with a price tag of around 1,000 yuan (approximately $150).

The main feature of the device is its 6.3-inch LCD display with 720p resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. Thanks to this proportion, the screen appears significantly wider than standard mobile panels. To maintain the budget price point, the manufacturer had to retain a rather noticeable bottom bezel.

Performance for the new model will be handled by the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset. The device will run on the DroiClaw Zhuge 3 operating system from Shanghai Droi Technology. The software platform is optimized for the widescreen display and supplemented with AI tools.

According to Coolpad, the device will serve as an affordable alternative to premium widescreen smartphones like the Huawei Pura X View, which features a 6.39-inch OLED matrix (2232 × 1320) and is sold for a starting price of 6,000 yuan.
