Smart Unveils Ultra-Compact Electric Car in Paris for £20,000
Two-seater electric vehicle measuring 2.75 metres in length offers a range of up to 290 km

Smart has unveiled a modern version of its iconic two-seater car at the Paris Motor Show. The new model measures 2,746 mm in length and has a turning radius of 6.95 metres, making manoeuvring in urban conditions easier.
The electric car is built on the new Electric Compact Architecture platform with rear-wheel drive and a five-link suspension. The rear electric motor, with a power output of 60 kW, delivers 130 Nm of torque. The 35.8 kWh battery provides a range of up to 290 km (preliminary WLTP cycle value). Fast charging at 65 kW restores the battery from 10% to 80% in 20 minutes.
Standard equipment includes driver assistance systems: adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go function, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring. The interior features a 10.1-inch central screen and an 8.8-inch instrument cluster. Internet connectivity via 4G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth is supported for eight years.
For the European market, three main trim levels will be offered: Pure, Pure+, and Premium. The top-tier version includes a panoramic roof, artificial leather seats with heating, and a Sennheiser audio system with seven speakers. A limited Couture Edition series has been produced in a run of 999 units.
Wolfgang Ufer, Head of Smart Europe, described the model as "the return of an automotive icon, reimagined for modern cities." The starting price will be under £20,000. Pre-orders will open in spring of next year, with deliveries beginning in summer.
