Mass Effect 5 trailer leaked online
Users discovered it under the title Mass Effect: Universe
The video showcases weapons, abilities, and alien species familiar from the series. It also features a relay, space travel, a nightclub, and a galaxy map on board a ship.
Based on the footage, the player could control a former military officer who transitioned to a 'new job' and was tasked with preventing conflicts. Liara T’Soni, now older, assists the protagonist during a bar fight.
Mass Effect 5 was set to take place hundreds of years after Mass Effect 3, with the action planned to return to the Milky Way following the victory over the Reapers. After canceling the project, EA also announced the closure of BioWare and its Edmonton office.
Former BioWare cinematic scenes supervisor Tony de Vaal called the game special and stated that it could have provided players with an unprecedented level of freedom and choice.
