DeepSeek Designated Undesirable in US Government Agencies
US authorities fear data leaks to China

The US Department of Homeland Security has ordered the removal of DeepSeek products from its systems and instructed civilian agencies not to purchase solutions based on these models. The department believes the models pose 'multi-vector threats' and could transmit sensitive information to the People’s Republic of China if used by US government employees and contractors.
According to the department’s assessment, their use may also facilitate the collection of detailed intelligence on US government agencies and citizens. Additionally, the models may contain malicious software and vulnerabilities. In July, federal agencies were already tasked with monitoring information flows related to government organization websites, taking into account potential risks associated with DeepSeek.
Earlier, the US Department of Commerce and the Navy banned DeepSeek on official devices, while authorities in New York, Tennessee, and Virginia implemented similar measures. On October 29, the US Federal Communications Commission is set to vote on a proposal to prohibit Chinese laboratories from testing smartphones, cameras, and computers supplied to the US.
