Google Pay officially launches in Uzbekistan
The announcement was made at the international C5+1 summit in Samarkand

Following the completion of card tokenization for Humo, Uzcard, Visa, and Mastercard, Google Pay has officially begun operations in Uzbekistan's financial market. The long-awaited launch of the contactless payment platform was announced by Marcin Krasuski, a representative of Google Cloud, during a speech at the digital technology session in Samarkand, where C5+1 format meetings were held with the participation of representatives from the U.S. and Central Asian countries.
The launch of the payment giant was preceded by extensive preparatory work by the regulator and the banking sector. The Central Bank of the Republic, together with commercial banks and the national systems Humo and Uzcard, had previously implemented a card tokenization mechanism. This enabled the creation of a unified technical foundation for Google Pay to work with both international cards such as Visa and Mastercard and local sum-denominated payment cards within the domestic infrastructure.
