Yandex restricts cloud storage functions due to drone attacks
The company has temporarily disabled bulk downloading of files and folders in Yandex Disk to maintain service operability, RBC reports.
Yandex has introduced restrictions on some functions of Yandex 360, including the cloud storage service Yandex Disk. The decision was made following damage to the company's data centers in Sasovo, Kaluga, and Vladimir caused by drone attacks.
The company's press service explained that the measures aim to reduce server load. Currently, users cannot download folders, multiple files simultaneously, or albums via the web version of Yandex Disk. The "Download all" button for public links has also been disabled.
However, individual files remain available for download. In the Yandex Disk mobile app, files do not open but can still be downloaded. Yandex assured that it is working to restore all functions.
The infrastructure damage led to a large-scale disruption in the Russian internet. The company emphasized that the restrictions are a temporary measure to support the core functionality of its services.
Downloading folders and files remains possible using third-party software if they are accessible to the user.
