Google allows publishing Android apps without a developer account

Now, any user aged 18 or older can upload their apps created using AI Studio to personal devices via Google Play

The update allows uploading apps created using artificial intelligence in Google AI Studio without the need to register a paid developer account. This feature is already available in the U.S. and other selected markets for users aged 18 or older.

Apps created this way will initially be available only on their creators' devices in the 'personal library' section. Later, Google plans to add the ability to share these apps with friends and family. If a user wants to publish their app in the public catalog, they will need to switch to a professional developer account and undergo standard security and quality checks.

Google has also introduced new tools for content discovery. In cars with integrated Google systems and augmented reality (XR) devices, the Play Store will adapt to screen size. For sports fans, themed pages with live match streams from leagues, including the Premier League, Champions League, and MLS, have been added.

The Ask Play feature now allows comparing apps, highlighting key differences and user reviews. Similar capabilities will soon appear in Gemini chats, where the AI assistant will be able to offer direct links to apps in the Play Store.

For gamers, a new tool called Game Finder has been introduced, which selects games based on an analysis of the user's gaming preferences—so-called Gamer DNA. Users will be able to customize filters by genres, mechanics, and other parameters. Gaming playlists, which can be shared with other players, have also been added.

Google is expanding opportunities for gamers: the Sidekick gaming overlay now includes a feature for recording 30-second gameplay clips. Developers have received new tools to boost engagement, including 48-hour Sprints competitions and a Community Posts section for Q&A about games directly on the app's page.
