Apple has unveiled an updated iPad mini with an 8.5-inch OLED display. Pre-orders will open on 28 October, and sales will begin on 6 November. In the US, the base Wi-Fi model costs $699, while the cellular version starts at $849.
The Super Retina XDR screen supports a peak brightness of up to 1,200 nits when displaying HDR content. Full-screen brightness reaches 600 nits. For configurations with 256GB and 512GB of storage, there is an option for nano-texture glass to reduce glare.
The device’s body thickness is 5.4mm, and the Wi-Fi version weighs 255 grams. The tablet has IP67 dust and water resistance.
Performance is powered by the A20 Pro chip, though its capabilities vary by configuration. Models with 128GB and 256GB of storage feature a five-core CPU and a 16-core Neural Engine. The 512GB version includes a six-core CPU and two 16-core Neural Engine units. All variants have a seven-core GPU with hardware-accelerated ray tracing.
Other updates include support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, as well as a 12MP Center Stage front camera located on the long side of the device. The tablet is compatible with Apple Pencil Pro and the USB-C Apple Pencil. Accessories are sold separately.
