Apple has updated the iMac, equipping it with the M6 processor. Pre-orders open on October 28, with sales beginning on November 6. In the U.S., the base model is priced at $1,499.

The entry-level configuration features a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU. The model with 12-core central and graphics processors will cost at least $1,699.

The iMac retains its 24-inch Retina display with 4.5K resolution and is available in seven color options. For video calls, it includes a 12 MP Center Stage camera.

Key updates include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and faster SSDs. The higher-end version offers four Thunderbolt 4 ports and an optional Ethernet connection with speeds up to 2.5 Gbps.

According to Apple, in certain tasks, graphics performance has improved by up to two times compared to the iMac with the M4, while local AI processing speed has increased by up to five times. These results were obtained in the manufacturer’s tests and depend on the application and workload.

For comparison, the iMac with the M4 initially started at $1,299. Thus, the difference between the entry-level prices is $200. However, this comparison reflects the cost of entry into the lineup, not computers with identical configurations.
