On 28 October, Nintendo held an Indie World presentation dedicated to independent games for Switch and Switch 2. One of the main events was the announcement of the release date for Witchbrook. Developers also showcased new projects and revealed the release timelines for already known games on Nintendo consoles.

Witchbrook will release on 28 January

The magical life simulator from Chucklefish will launch on 28 January 2027 for PC, Switch, Switch 2, and Xbox. The studio separately confirmed plans for a PlayStation 5 version.

Players will attend a witches' college in the seaside town of Mossport: attending classes, taking exams, and mastering spells. Outside of studies, they can make friends, build relationships, decorate their home, and start their own business. Online multiplayer for up to four players is also included.

R.E.P.O. will arrive on Switch 2

The cooperative horror game from semiwork studio will debut on Switch 2 in 2027. Players explore dangerous locations and carry valuable items—from fragile dishes to heavy pianos. The physics of objects and the need to work together turn even simple cargo transport into a risky endeavor.

New games from the creators of Celeste and Dead Cells

City of None is an adventure platformer with puzzles from one of the creators of Celeste. Its story unfolds in a city divided into five districts, each with different enemies, environments, and gameplay features. The release on Switch and Switch 2 is scheduled for 2027.

In the same year, Tenjutsu—a roguelike combat game from Dead Cells' lead designer Sébastien Benard—will launch on Switch 2. A former yakuza member returns home and confronts criminal gangs.

Sword of the Sea and Slime Rancher 2

The adventure game Sword of the Sea, from the creators of ABZÛ and The Pathless, will receive a Switch 2 version, set to release on 29 October. The protagonist travels across sandy waves and watery expanses on a magical sword, restoring life to a barren world.

Slime Rancher 2 will arrive on Switch 2 in January 2027. Players will continue the adventures of Beatrix LeBeau, exploring Rainbow Island and expanding a farm of unusual slimes.

Time travel, raccoons, and a haunted mansion

The turn-based role-playing game Threads of Time will launch in summer 2027 on Switch, Switch 2, PC, and Xbox Series X|S. It brings together heroes from different eras in a story about a conspiracy threatening the past and future.

The cooperative sandbox Dumpster Gang lets four players become raccoons: scavenging for loot, stealing snacks, and decorating their hideout with found items. The release on Switch 2 is planned for March 2027.

In Haunted Paws, two puppies set out to rescue a person from a haunted mansion. The adventure, featuring local and online co-op, will launch on both Switch consoles in May 2027.

Four games are already available to try

Following the presentation, free demos for Haunted Paws, Petal Runner, RACCOIN: Chaos Max Edition, and Winds of Viridia became available in the Nintendo eShop.

Other announcements included the multiplayer life simulator Spirit Crossing, the comedic heist game My Arms Are Longer Now, the competitive Super Battle Golf, and the adventure Kitsune: The Journey of Adashino, inspired by Japanese folklore.
