The company has introduced Style Sketch, an artificial intelligence-powered app for outfit selection and virtual try-ons. The service is currently available on Android and iOS in Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand.
The app compiles a digital wardrobe from photos of clothing items. To do this, users can link Facebook and Instagram, upload images from their gallery, or photograph clothing separately. Linking social networks is optional.
Based on the added items, Style Sketch suggests combinations. Users can select a specific item—such as a jacket or shoes—and request the app to pair it with other clothing.
Virtual try-on allows users to evaluate the result: the app displays the outfit on a digital model with a similar body type and skin tone.
The service also assists in choosing clothing based on weather conditions and preparing for trips. Users can create an outfit plan for a trip by specifying the destination, duration, and planned activities. Favorite options can be shared with friends.
Style Sketch continues Meta’s series of small AI applications. Previously, the company released Waddle World in the Philippines—a virtual pet with elements of a personal diary.
Virtual try-on is already used in other services. Meta’s new app focuses on selecting combinations from an existing wardrobe and the ability to add items via photos from social networks.
