Altman visited South Korea and met with approximately 50 executives from Samsung Group companies. The event took place on October 31 in Yongin, south of Seoul.

Representatives from divisions working in electronics, finance, and biotechnology participated in the meeting. The parties discussed how artificial intelligence could transform industries, corporate governance, and business opportunities over the next ten years.

The visit occurred against the backdrop of growing demand for memory and computing infrastructure for AI. Samsung is already a partner for OpenAI in developing the Stargate project.

The foundation for the companies' collaboration was laid in October 2025. It includes memory supplies and joint work on data center infrastructure. Samsung SDS is involved in the design, construction, and operation of AI data centers.

A separate part of the partnership is related to floating data centers. Samsung C&T and Samsung Heavy Industries are working on this direction together with OpenAI.

For Samsung itself, the collaboration is also linked to the implementation of AI within the group—in research, production, marketing, and management. Thus, the meeting covered both infrastructure for neural network operations and their application in various business areas.
