According to the publication, the prototype was created in about three months in collaboration with the Chinese robotics manufacturer Fourier. The machine stands approximately 1.5 meters tall and weighs around 48 kg.

Max is equipped with a screen capable of displaying facial expressions, a built-in speaker, and hands for grasping small objects. The computational foundation, as stated in the publication, is the Nvidia Jetson Thor platform, designed for robotics.

Since September, Meta has been working on the next prototype—Max 2. The second version is planned to feature a redesigned body and hands, as well as the addition of a projector and additional sensors to help the robot navigate stairs more effectively.

The timeline for the release of a consumer version has not yet been determined. The described development remains a prototype and not a ready-to-market home assistant.

Meta’s plans in humanoid robotics were first reported in 2025. At that time, Bloomberg revealed the creation of a dedicated team, one of whose goals was to develop machines for household tasks. In 2026, the company also acquired a startup specializing in artificial intelligence for robots.
