Ocarina of Time Remake Being Developed by Zelda's Core Team
Nintendo has revealed the developers behind the new version. The game will release on November 5 for Switch 2

Nintendo has confirmed that the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is being led by its internal team, EPD Production Group No. 3, which works on the main games in the series. The information was shared in an Ask the Developer interview.
The project's producers are Eiji Aonuma and Hidemaro Fujibayashi. The latter previously directed the development of Skyward Sword, Breath of the Wild, and Tears of the Kingdom.
Prior to this, fans had discussed other potential developers. One candidate was Grezzo: the studio created Ocarina of Time 3D for Nintendo 3DS, as well as the re-releases of Majora’s Mask and Echoes of Wisdom.
It was also speculated that Monolith Soft, known for Xenoblade, might be involved. The company assisted Nintendo with Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. However, the confirmation of EPD's leading role does not disclose the full list of teams involved in the remake.
In the interview, Aonuma explained that revisiting Ocarina of Time was partly motivated by The Legend of Zelda's 40th anniversary. He wanted younger developers to study the structure of the classic game in depth and apply that experience to future projects.
At the same time, the team experimented with changes. For example, they tried adding new fast-travel points to the remake. The idea was abandoned because, by shortening the journey, players would miss small discoveries that are important to the sense of adventure.
Aonuma and Fujibayashi intentionally gave developers room to make their own decisions, helping to determine which elements of the original should be preserved.
