Romantic AI Companions to Receive 18+ Rating in App Store

Starting from November 16, 2026, Apple will add questions about dating and geolocation to App Store Connect, and apps with romantic features will receive a rating of no lower than 18+.

In the age rating questionnaire, developers will be required to specify whether the app shares the user's location and supports dating or romantic communication with real people and virtual companions. For such apps, Apple will set a minimum rating of 18+.

The new fields will appear when submitting updates and changing the rating. For all apps, the data must be completed by January 12, 2027. In some regions, sharing geolocation may affect the rating: for example, in Brazil, it is assigned an A16 rating, while dating features receive an A18 rating.
