SpaceX Collaborates with Qualcomm to Develop Starlink 5G Mobile Network
SpaceX has reached a multi-year agreement with Qualcomm: Dragonwing technology will be deployed across tens of thousands of 5G mobile nodes in the U.S., with the first rollouts scheduled for 2027.

Under the agreement, SpaceX plans to use Dragonwing Cellular Infrastructure—a Qualcomm hardware and software platform—to enhance network coverage, capacity, and efficiency. It will be integrated with the Starlink satellite constellation, which supports direct communication with mobile devices.
The project is part of SpaceX’s plans to position Starlink Mobile as a major telecommunications operator in the U.S. The company aims to compete with T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon; previously, SpaceX acquired a significant amount of spectrum resources and, according to reports, considered purchasing Boost Mobile.
Qualcomm Vice President and General Manager for Technology Planning, Edge Solutions, and Data Centers Durga Malladi stated that the partnership will enable the creation of advanced cellular infrastructure in the U.S. and lay the groundwork for 6G in the coming years.
