GTA 6 sold nearly 8 million copies before launch, report says
According to Sensor Tower estimates, GTA 6 sold 7.71 million copies before its 19 November release and generated approximately $751 million in revenue, despite the game not yet being available.
Sensor Tower has estimated the game's sales prior to its official launch. Rockstar Games has not confirmed these figures and has not yet released its own pre-order statistics, so this is not official data but rather an analysts' calculation.
An estimated 74% of sales were on PlayStation, while Xbox accounted for 26%. The game will be released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. At the time of publication, slightly over two weeks remained until the launch, and the number of pre-orders could still increase.
The reported figures already position GTA 6 as one of the most notable commercial releases of the gaming year. However, comparisons with other hits remain preliminary: Circana’s sales ranking does not include data on the total number of copies sold, and the figures for GTA 6 and other games were calculated by different companies. Therefore, this estimate cannot be considered the game’s definitive standing among leaders.
Even with this caveat, demand for the project appears high before its release. Sensor Tower also estimates revenue from sales at approximately $751 million, despite GTA 6 not being playable until its official launch.
