Yandex Uzbekistan is preparing a pilot launch of delivery robots in Tashkent by the end of 2026. They will deliver groceries, ready-made food, and everyday goods from Yandex Lavka, reports UzA.

The company is currently testing the devices in urban conditions. For the first deliveries, routes up to two kilometers long will be selected, taking service times into account. The estimated arrival time of the robot will be visible to the user in the app when placing an order.

According to the company, the robots move at pedestrian speed. Lidar and ultrasonic sensors help them navigate, while the control system enables them to recognize traffic lights, avoid obstacles, and cross roads at pedestrian crossings.

Six leading wheels allow the robots to overcome curbs up to 10 centimeters high. The robots are also claimed to operate in the rain.

In non-standard situations, a remote operator will take control. A QR code for contacting support is provided on the robot’s body.

After the pilot phase, the company plans to expand the use of robots, including for other proprietary services and third-party companies. The exact launch date, delivery areas, and number of devices have not yet been announced.
